Soft Source, under a contract from IS International, an Atlanta based company with an exclusive contract with Siemens North America, provided engineering resources highly skilled in Siemens proprietary Digital Control Systems like Teleperm XP and Simadyne, to support a Siemens Field Services Group that was responsible for commissioning and start up services to multiple fossil power plants at locations throughout United States.
The project required managing technical resource allocation to the project, arranging all
the travel and lodging logistics for the engineers for the duration of the project and relocating the resource on completion of the project to new plant sites. This was a fast paced project that required staffing with highly skilled engineers at very short notice. The company was able to use its Recruitment center to its advantage and staff the projects as needed, in some cases, bringing in foreign workers with specialized skills on temporary workers visas, to ensure that the project was completed within time and budget constraints. This part of the business suffered after the ENRON collapse as most of these projects were in the fossil power generation industry.
This technology driven project experience in a specialized niche market, gave the company and its engineers insight into another growing market of process automation and controls as applicable to the
petro-chemical and oil & gas industry. Soft Source is now targeting more work in addition to 8(a) Federal and State opportunities.
