1. Spectra Engineering & Research Office Building
Tallahassee, Florida

Under a sub contract from the prime contractor, American Logistics, Griffin, Georgia, Soft Source Inc. constructed a 4000 sq ft office building facility in Tallahassee  Florida, the home for Spectra Engineering and Research facility.  This project from foundation up was constructed in accordance with the approved plans and change notices and required concrete work in the foundations, reinforced masonry blocks, framing, HVAC, drywall, roofing and a concrete driveway. The company was able to arrange for work force from out of state due to an acute labor shortage in the State of Florida during the worst of the hurricane season that brought the Katrina tragedy.   The project was fixed price lump sum and was successfully completed, under budget and within the target time frame.

2. Storm Disaster Recovery Project,
Naval Air Station, Key West, Florida.

Under a DoD contract for re-construction and rehabilitation of Navy Family Housing Units at Naval Air Station, Key West Florida, damaged from Hurricane Wilma, Soft Source supported the sub-contractor in a joint venture with Geofon, a California based Environmental Remediation and Construction Company. Soft Source provided the skilled work force and site management for this fast paced fixed unit rate project. The total work contracted amounted to $ 1.4 million of an overall 19.5 million prime contract and the company logged in over 30,000 man hours in less than 4 months.   The project included remediation of mold, water damage, replacement of drywall, flooring, roofing, painting, HVAC under strict oversight of the federal agencies and prime contractor. Coordinated and managed work in two shifts and work was completed to all federal government reporting requirements. On this emergency rehab work, company used  its direct Recruitment Center to staff the project with very little lead time and able to be cost competitive and complete work to satisfaction of federal monitoring agencies.

3. Fossil Power Plant Automation Controls Commissioning
Bali, Indonesia

Soft Source,  under a contract from IS International, an Atlanta based company with an exclusive contract with Siemens North America, provided engineering resources highly skilled in Siemens proprietary Digital Control Systems like Teleperm XP and Simadyne, to support  a Siemens Field Services Group that was responsible for commissioning and start up services to multiple fossil power plants at locations throughout United States.

The project required managing technical resource allocation to the project, arranging all the travel and lodging logistics for the engineers for the duration of the project and relocating the resource on completion of the project to new plant sites. This was a fast paced project that required staffing with highly skilled engineers at very short notice.  The company was able to use its Recruitment center to its advantage and staff the projects as needed, in some cases, bringing in foreign workers with specialized skills on temporary workers visas, to ensure that the project was completed within time and budget constraints. This part of the business suffered after the ENRON collapse as most of these projects were in the Fossil power generation industry.

This technology driven project experience in a specialized niche market, gave the company and its engineers insight into another growing market of process automation and controls as applicable to the petro-chemical and oil & gas  industry.  Soft Source is now targeting more work in addition to 8(a) Federal and State opportunities.

4. Immobilization & Storage of Radioactive Waste
SRP Facility Aiken SC.

The DoE, in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act, has established a defense waste processing plant facility at SRP and has selected borosilicate glass as a medium to immobilize the highly radioactive waste in glass capsules storing this immobilized waste till a permanent repository is built and available for the storage in the Yucca Mountains. This is a project of national significance and a Soft Source engineers had the opportunity to work on this project as a contractor and gain valuable experience in nuclear waste stabilization and disposal process. This innovative and technology driven project aims to render highly radioactive waste into inert and harmless glassified capsules, has gained significance due to the risks of such a huge quantity of nuclear waste stored at site which is affecting the underground soil strata and the water quality in the area.
